Intro to Climbing
LEVEL: BEGINNER
This class is perfect for new climbers who want to use every area of the gym. After completing the class, you will know how to top rope belay, operate the gym’s auto-belay stations, and climb on the bouldering wall. In addition, you will learn the fundamental climbing techniques needed to be successful at the gym.

Bouldering Skills
LEVEL: BEGINNER
After completing our Bouldering Skills class, you will have the skills needed to begin a regular bouldering routine. You will learn how to properly fall onto a padded floor, warm up for and structure a proper bouldering session, and identify and practice skills. You will also learn about bouldering terminology and proper etiquette. We will help you overcome the social barriers to climbing and understand how climbers work together while bouldering.
Bouldering relies on padded flooring rather than ropes and harnesses for protection. Climbers generally only climb between 10 and 15 feet high. For that reason, no additional equipment other than the padded floor is needed. This class is ideal for climbers who are new to the sport and want to establish a dependable foundation of skills.

The Bouldering Series 2025
Sign UpThe Bouldering Series Returns In 2025!
FORMAT: The Bouldering Series is a team bouldering challenge that takes place over 5 consecutive weeks. Assemble a team of four (4), pull down on new boulders at both gyms, and tally your scores in KAYA every week. The top 6 teams, plus 1 wildcard team will qualify for a live Onsight Finals at the Steel Shop on August 23rd.
- Competition will take place at both gyms, alternating location each week, beginning at the Power Plant.
- Climbers may either register with a team name -or- as a "Free Agent". Climb So iLL will assign Free Agents to a team prior to the competition start based on the order of sign up. Free agents are not guaranteed placement on a team.
- After registering, competitors will receive a link to join the KAYA Challenge, where they will log their sends throughout the competition. There is no alternate method of scorekeeping for this event.
PRIZES: Each competitor on the winning team will take home a trophy and prize pack, and their team name will be featured on a permanent plaque at the gym. All competitors will also receive a 2025 Bouldering Series T-Shirt.
SCORING: The Bouldering Series will use relative scoring. Points for each climb are assigned based on each climber’s max grade reported during registration:
- Climbers will earn 100 points for sending their max grade.
- Climbers will be awarded an additional 10 points for sending a grade above their max grade.
- Climbers will be awarded 20 points fewer for a grade below their max grade.
- IMPORTANT: Climbers should select their max grade based on the hardest bouldering grade they can typically climb in 3-5 attempts, within one climbing session, NOT the hardest boulder they’ve ever sent.

Do you offer discounted gym memberships?
You are eligible for a discounted gym membership if you are part of one or more of the following groups:
Student: 25 years and younger with a valid student ID
Youth: 17 years and younger
Military: with valid military ID

Please present your ID on your next visit to finish setting up your membership. If you have enrolled in a discounted gym membership, we ask that you provide proof of your eligibility at that time.

How much is the enrollment fee?
Our one-time account setup fee is $49.
Do my punches go away if I purchase a gym membership?
Your punches will not go away if you purchase a gym membership. If unused punches are on your account, you can share them with another climber. You’ll need to be present to authorize another climber to use a punch.
How do I freeze and thaw my gym membership?
You can freeze your gym membership indefinitely for $10/month.
A pro-rated price will be charged for the days remaining on your monthly pass starting from the date you choose to thaw your membership. No additional fees will be applied for thawing your membership.
Members may freeze and thaw their membership a maximum of 3 times per year. Speak with a Climb So iLL team member to freeze your membership at the gym.
All freezes begin on the 1st of the month. If you wish to freeze your membership, you must notify us a minimum of 7 days BEFORE the 1st of the month.
How do I cancel my gym membership?
You can cancel your gym membership anytime without fees or penalties. Members must sign a cancellation form in person at Climb So iLL. All cancellations begin on the 1st of the month. If you wish to cancel your membership, you must notify us a minimum of 7 days BEFORE the 1st of the month.
Is tax included in the membership price?
Climb So iLL memberships are subject to state-mandated sales tax. This sales tax is charged in addition to our advertised membership prices. We believe that health and fitness activities should not be subject to sales tax. We encourage you to write to your state and local representative and ask them to support efforts to repeal this sales tax.
Are memberships transferrable?
Climb So iLL memberships are not transferable. However, you can bring in one guest per month as a member. This guest must not have visited the gym within the previous 90 days.
Power Plant
Our flagship climbing gym, the Power Plant, is located in Downtown St. Louis, one block East of Lafayette Square. The gym is part of the historic City Hospital complex. Look for the smokestack.
Steel Shop + Gravity Lab
Our newest climbing gym, the Steel Shop, is located in Frenchtown St. Charles. Gravity Lab is housed inside the Steel Shop and offers a unique experience for younger and newer climbers.
